💙 God Behind Bars
Some charities focus on meeting physical needs. Some focus on emotional support. And some go straight to the heart—meeting people in places most of the world has forgotten.

God Behind Bars is one of those organizations.

As we continue our 2026 Local Love Initiative, February felt like the right time to highlight a ministry that is doing life-changing work behind prison walls—bringing hope, dignity, and the message of God’s love to men and women who need it most.

This month is especially meaningful because it also connects directly to what’s happening right here at home through my church, Victory City Church, and a new initiative launching at Bartlett State Jail.

Who They Are

God Behind Bars is a national prison ministry dedicated to sharing the Gospel with incarcerated men and women across the United States. Their mission is simple but incredibly powerful: to connect inmates to the hope and freedom found in Jesus—no matter their past, their mistakes, or their circumstances.

They believe that no one is beyond redemption, that every life has value, and that transformation can begin anywhere… even behind bars.

What They Do

God Behind Bars partners with churches to bring consistent, faith-based programming into correctional facilities. Their work focuses on:
  • Hosting prison worship services and experiences
    • Providing discipleship and spiritual resources
    • Supporting inmates during incarceration and beyond
    • Equipping churches to step into prison ministry in a meaningful, sustainable way
This isn’t a one-time event or a feel-good moment—it’s ongoing, intentional ministry designed to create real, lasting change.

Local Impact: Victory City Church + Bartlett State Jail

Victory City Church is partnering with God Behind Bars, with a tenative launch date in March, to serve inmates at Bartlett State Jail—showing up in person, building relationships, and sharing the Word of God with men who are hungry for hope and connection.

This initiative isn’t about fixing people or checking a box. It’s about presence. Compassion. And reminding individuals who are incarcerated that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

Watching our church step into this partnership has been incredibly humbling and inspiring. It’s a powerful reminder that faith isn’t meant to stay inside four wall - it’s meant to go where it’s needed most.

Want to Be Part of This Initiative?

For those who feel called to serve more directly, there is an opportunity to get involved through Victory City Church as we partner with God Behind Bars at Bartlett State Jail.

As shared by our outreach leadership, participation in the Bartlett State Jail Campus Launch is open to those who call Victory City Church their home church. This helps ensure consistency, accountability, and long-term commitment within the ministry.

Even if direct involvement isn’t the right fit, your prayers, encouragement, and support are deeply valued and make a real difference.

You can also reach out directly to me! I serve on the Next Steps Team; who’s goal is to greet first-time guests and help them get connected. I’d love to meet you and show you our church. This is right up my alley!

Why This One Is Personal

This featured charity hits close to home for me.

Faith plays a central role in my life, and seeing my church actively live out that faith through service is something I deeply believe in. God Behind Bars creates the bridge between willing churches and a population that is so often overlooked—and I’m honored to help shine a light on the work they’re doing.

This is what it looks like when community, faith, and action come together.

How You Can Get Involved

If this mission speaks to you, there are several meaningful ways to support God Behind Bars:
  • Donate financially to help fund prison programs, resources, and outreach
  • Pray for the inmates, volunteers, and ministry leaders involved in this work
  • Write a Letter of encouragement to someone who is incarcerated—a simple act that can make a life-changing difference
  • Learn More about prison ministry and how God Behind Bars serves inmates across the country
  • Share their mission to help spread awareness and hope
Remember support doesn’t always require stepping inside a jail—but it does start with an open heart.

Moving Forward Together

This Featured Charity Initiative isn’t just about highlighting organization; it’s about inviting our clients, friends, and community to be part of something bigger.

February’s spotlight on God Behind Bars & Victory City Church is a reminder that impact doesn’t always happen where it’s visible… but it always matters.

Thank you for continuing to walk alongside us as we support incredible organizations throughout 2026. There is so much good happening—and this is only the beginning. 💙

Stay tuned each month as we continue our Featured Charity series—sharing stories, creating awareness, and finding meaningful ways to give back together.
