Cedar Park

When looking at Cedar Park homes for sale, your mind is awash with possibilities. The problem is, you don't have the money for a lot of new furnishings. How do you make your new space feel fresh without spending a lot on new stuff? Here are a few suggestions.

  1. Statement Wall
Take a wall that's otherwise kind of drab and make it more interesting by painting it with bright colors and fun patterns. It can be as simple or as complex as you're comfortable with. If you're not great with painting, use wallpaper instead. You can also hang things on the wall to make it pop. Find paintings and art pieces you like that are within your budget by checking secondhand stores. You can even make prints of photos from your phone's camera roll, put them into frames, and hang them.

  2. Plants
A few potted plants can brighten up any space. Not only do they look pretty, they provide a variety of other benefits, including improving your air quality, reducing stress, and helping you think more clearly. Or if watering and taking care of potted plants isn't your strong suit, you can simply go out into the neighborhood and find a few flowers, colorful leaves, interesting branches, and other plants and bring them back home. Put them into a vase of water and place it on the dining room table or on a desk. It will brighten up your space for little effort and no cost.

  3. Area Rug
With a little research, you can find interesting and colorful area rugs for almost any budget. Putting one in the middle of the floor can help center the room and add a bit of personality. If you already have an area rug, you might be able to flip it over to get a fresh look.

  4. Door Handles and Wall Plates
Most people simply use the handles that were on the doors when they moved in. You don't think to replace them unless they're broken. But putting a decorative handle on your front door can make your entire house feel more inviting. You can do the same with the wall plates for your light switches and outlets as well. Doorknob handles and wall plates are all inexpensive to buy and easy to change out. Find some designs, colors, and aesthetics that fit your decor or would make a good accent.

  5. Bookshelves
Rearranging your bookshelves costs nothing and can add so much to a room's ambiance. Clear a small space on one shelf for knickknacks and one on another shelf for framed photos. Use decorative bookends to place a few books on either side, then decorate the space in between with something that will catch the eye.

  6. Doorways and Window Frames
Instead of repainting an entire room, just paint the molding around your windows and doors. Find an accent color that will go well with the surrounding colors and paint your doorways and window frames. Use masking tape to ensure clean edges. You can do the baseboards, too. It's a simple, low-effort task that can refresh an entire room when done right.

These are just a few of the ways you can refresh your space on a budget. Our real estate agents can help you find even more ideas for making your new house your own. Contact us if you're ready to find the home that's right for you.
