As summer unfolds in Austin and Central Texas, the days stretch longer and the call for engaging activities gets louder. While poolside lounging and backyard barbecues are summertime staples, fostering a love of learning is just as important! Enter your local library – a treasure trove of books, programs, and events designed to ignite young imaginations and keep those growing minds active.

Our real estate agents understand that strong communities are vital for families. And libraries are at the heart of thriving communities, offering a wealth of resources for all ages. This summer, why not explore the fantastic offerings at your local library? Here are just a few ways your family can embark on story time adventures in some of our favorite Central Texas libraries:

Austin Public Library: The crown jewel of the library system, Austin Central Library boasts a six-story haven for bookworms, complete with a rooftop garden and a dedicated children's floor. The Summer Learning Program offers children and adults the chance to read and earn prizes by reading for a set amount of time and completing activities. Check out Literature Live! Presents: Chicken BIG, a puppet show for children based on the book Chicken Big by Austin author Keith Graves.

Round Rock Public Library: This vibrant library offers a Storytime thoughout the week depending on age, featuring interactive storytelling, sing-alongs, and puppet shows. They also host regular after-school clubs and special events for teens, check out the calendar here for more details. The Summer Reading Programs for both children and adults. The program encourages participants to keep reading throughout the summer and offers prizes for reaching reading goals. Children, teens, and adults can all participate in the program

Cedar Park Public Library: Geared towards families with young children, Cedar Park Public Library hosts regular events, perfect for children and inspiring young readers. The Cedar Park Public Library's Summer Adventure and Reading Challenge is a program that is open to all ages and includes reading, attending library events, and logging minutes. There are prizes for participants who meet certain goals. The challenge runs from May 28th to August 10th, 2024

More Than Books: Don't forget about the vast collections of audiobooks, DVDs, and even board games available for borrowing at all these libraries. Perfect for rainy day adventures or a family movie night!
