What Qualifies: Generally, most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks priced under
$100are exempt from state and local sales tax. That's a savings of up to 8.25% in our area! -
The Fine Print: The
$100limit applies to individual items. For example, you can buy five shirts that are each$20, and the entire purchase will be tax-free. However, a single pair of jeans priced at$110would be fully taxable. The exemption also applies to online purchases made from Texas-based businesses during this weekend.
